Welcome
Tunxis Service Center started in the 3 bay gas station in front of us. Pat started working in the service bays after getting out of the army, in the early 70's. He and Dorene bought the building with a lot of help and guidance from family.
We outgrew the gas station and moved into the old George's Auto Body shop, behind the station, in 2003.
Since the beginning, the business has been focused on building strong customer relationships and providing the highest quality of workmanship on each and every automotive repair. To that end our staff has virtually unlimited information at their finger tips while working our customers cars. However they regularly spent quite a bit of time in a formal class room setting bushing up on theory, learning new techniques and systems.
We feel confident in being able to say you can rely on our experienced service staff to perform accurate and appropriate auto service. Contact us online or visit us today for service you can count on.
Our small staff is pretty proud of the work they turn out. Car are run after servicing to verify no new leaks. We also test drive most cars to make sure the sounds and feel of the vehicle is not abnormal. They take care to make sure you will be pleased with our work.
Our customers place a lot of trust in us. It is our job to see to it that they are not llet down. We invite you to come see what quality service is supposed to be.
We spend a great deal of time in technical study. The list of technical sites we subscribe to is ever increasing. We also travel to training seminars throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic states. The seminars, intense training and tech to tech discussions help us prepare to troubleshoot unique problems and properly service the vehicles we specialize in.

Automotive engine technology is advancing at an amazing pace. Vehicle fuel mileage is rising, throttle response and performance are very impressive. Vehicle emissions have become amazing low. We once measured carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions at the tailpipe using a very expensive and sensitive machines. Most vehicles of today would likely register a zero both reading on those machines. Today we are primarily concerned about reducing oxides of Nitrogen.
The complex systems the vehicle manufacturer use to achieve low vehicle emissions are complex and advancing at an amazing rate. These are not bolt on systems. Advancing engine design, motor lubricants, proper maintenance techniques and knowledge of the system are all and integral to keeping the engines running clean and performing well.
Our technicians have computers at their tool boxes and subscriptions to a number of professional websites. They are able to stay abreast of advancing techniques for repair and maintenance of your European or Japanese automobile. We never wonder what oil specification is supposed to go into our clients vehicle, we find the appropriate specification to use. We read about proper repair techniques and preventive maintenance.
Our job is to better our clients vehicle condition, not harm it through ignorance.

Steering, Suspension and Tires
The steering and suspension system on your vehicle is responsible for maintaining comfortable riding conditions, driving performance and safety. As each large tire on your car touches the road the actual contact patch tire of the tire is amazingly small. Your 2 stocking feet together create a larger patch than an average tire does. Steering, suspension and tires keep those small patches on the highway at 70 MPH, even in the rain. It's good to have a seasoned professional inspect that system on occasion.
Heating Systems and Air Conditioning
A failure in this system gets our attention pretty quick, doesn't it? No cooling, smells, heater working poorly. We do service and repair these systems.
